This Week in Mentalists – The How is the New Year treating us Mentalists? Edition

Hello everyone :D

I hope the New Year is treating you well. It’s Sharon here from Day in the Life of a Busy Gal where I blog about everything, including my regular Mental Health Monday’s slot, which is mainly related to BPD.

This week I thought I would have a look at how the new year is treating us mentalists…

First up we have Tormented Soul who has found herself on the Psych Ward:

Paperwork seems to have made the most fuss since my admission. I  arrived – paperwork. Had my mugshot done – terrible picture. Taken upstairs by a male nurse to my single room who joked about being a repeat offender and therefore would not require a tour of the place. Caught up with my contact nurse for the evening and signed more paperwork. Thought I was all done but was interrupted during a friends visit to sign even paperwork. I’m all out of signatures!

Meanwhile My Crazy Bipolar Life is trying hard to avoid ending up back in hospital:

Well the police didn’t come and cart me off but even I know if I can’t get a grip on my life very soon then the men in the white coats will be…

CandyCan is struggling to hold it all together:

I’ve also been so disconnected from the others too… the other parts. I’ve felt like I’m just singular, no one else, no feelings, no others, no past. I can hear the child speak but I don’t sense us as being connected.

I’ve been struggling with food again recently. Things had been pretty settled for me in that department…

As is Nullfuture:

It’s a little surreal to think that I very recently wrote a post entitled Struggling To Identify. Now I get to write one about how I’m struggling full stop. How fun is that?!

But food is a positive for Moon Tree of Seeking Myself, who shares a recipe:

I’ve also been enjoying cooking lots of healthy meals from scratch, and have decided to share some of my own creations on this blog – starting with tonight’s kedgeree. Please note that yes, I am a hypocritical occasional-fish-eating vegetarian Image may be NSFW.

:P
and by “healthy”, I mean nutritious, not weight-loss-friendly. (I’ve started learning about the Health at Every Size approach, but that’s for another post!)

Moon Tree’s Mackerel Kedgeree – Serves 2…

Julie’s Mum is questioning whether Julie should read the blog that is about her:

The one person who doesn’t read this blog is Julie herself.  It’s not just that she doesn’t want to read it – she doesn’t know of its existence.  Is it wrong of me to blog about her without her knowledge?  I do think about this issue quite often, and have sometimes thought I would tell her.  Fortunately, common sense always stays my hand.

And Katie in Wonderland is worried about the search terms that bring people to her posts:

I feel incredibly sorry for the poor soul who googled ‘Citalopram cold turkey day one’ today and would have been assaulted with my suicidal/demented rants about  my withdrawal a few months ago.

Quotes and poetry often stimulate us mentalists and this week the Giant Fossilized Armadillo shares a powerful quote:

My friend posted a lovely quote on twitter earlier: ”At any given moment, you have the power to say “this is not how the story is going to end”” (author unknown, despite ten minutes of googling). I replied: “I love that quote. Although the initial decision isn’t nearly as hard as maintaining the momentum of change!” and she agreed with me.

And You Should See My Scars shares some poetry:

we’re losing us
and
it makes me very sad

i accepted that we
weren’t
to be
a long time ago,
but
i thought we could still be us

we had something really special
what
a
cliché

it’s true
we made each other feel extraordinary
we felt lucky
we felt edgy
we felt so very clever…

A bit of a mixed bag there then, the 2012 is off to a good start for some, and not so good for others – how about you? how is the New Year treating you? Enquiring minds here at TWIM want to know, share your new year stories with us! :D

I leave you with this weeks wildcard (this is the bit I always find hardest not being a person who spends much time on youtube! lol) But here’s a funny one for LOTR fans (or not!) from 9Gag.com
